Android and my External Bluetooth GPS patch

I've got some questions from users asking if  I'm going to port my patch to the latest Cyanogenmod. Since I don't have access to a Nexus device, the patch will probably take some time. I can only test it with an actual device.

I'm also exploring the Windows Phone 8 platform which currently has my attention.

Lumia 920 & WP8

I've decided to try the WP8 platform after the Nexus 4 debacle which I returned. Don't get me wrong, I love android but I really dislike LG ([1],[2]). I've used the phone for a couple of days and came up with the following list: (Disclaimer: I'm a developer)

Positive

  • Background permissions (allows you to revoke run-in-the-background-permission right (Google please copy))
  • Battery save mode (WP8 disables non-critical services when low on battery)
  • Tiles
  • Free offline turn-by-turn navigation
  • Free offline maps
  • GPS units seems to work really well and fast on the Lumia 920

Early adopters blues (Nexus 4)

Having used several nexus devices, I took the plunge and bought the LG Nexus 4. After a couple of days I discovered cracks in the glass of the phone. I did not drop the phone in any way. I just left it on the table and after picking it up it looks like this.

I did read some reports of other user experiencing similar problems. It could have been the temperature difference. It's quite cold these days in Holland.

Macbook pro ghosting issue

Update: I got a new one and this one is fine. No more ghosting. Build week is 28.

So I bought the new Macbook Pro with Retina display and I'm seeing some issues with the screen. The screen is gorgeous but mines is suffering from a image retention problem. It already happens after 10 mins and only disappears after 30 mins. Apparently I'm not the only one. [1] [2]

You can try to reproduce it by choosing a dark solid grey background and leave safari or another app running for 10 mins. Also disable the dimming. This is ...

Cuda presentation
